The Omega is the central commander of all Mimics appearing in Edge of Tomorrow.

Overview[]

The Omega is the central intelligence of the Mimics. It is a massive, hive-like organism that conceals a glowing brain-like core. An Omega is linked to all Mimics and possesses the ability to turn back time in order to continuously retry different battle strategies until the Mimics win. This ability has been used countless times by the Omega to allow the Mimics to lay siege to nearly all of Central Europe. It's highly intelligent and can quickly come up with different combat tactics. It can also track down and send manipulative visions to people infected with an Alpha's blood.

The Omega doesn't possess any abilities to defend itself from a threat. Instead it keeps itself hidden and relies on Alphas and Drones to protect it from danger.

Appearance[]

Omega is a gargantuan almost eldritch organism dwarfing all other of its species. It has a large core resembling a brain of sorts that pulsates with a light blue internal glow, The Brain is surrounded by series of massive petal like structures which slowly move as if breathing and rests on a large spiral giving it and overall plant like nature far unlike its relatives.

History[]

Origin[]

At some point the Omega crash landed via asteroid deep into the Louvre which would become the center of the creation of its army. Within days it had created thousands if not millions of Drones and Alphas and launched its assault on all of Europe. Having never faced an enemy of this magnitude it overtook most of the continent without opposition for almost five years.

Operation Downfall[]

Towards the end of its 5 year conquest it began to slowly fall back allowing the military to defeat the Mimics for the first time and believing this meant the end of the mimic invasion they launched Operation Downfall, a multi-front assault with British and American military pushing back the Mimics from the west and China and Russia to the east slowly forcing them into a single area, crushing the mimics once and for all.

Unbeknownst to all of humanity the Omega was aware of this invasion well in advance and intentionally lost numerous fights in order to lull humanity into a false sense of victory cultivating into the multi-nation attack. From there it had planted thousands of Drones and would slaughter every solider on the battlefield. With there armies crippled the Omega would conquer not just Europe but every continent on earth forcing humanity into extinction. As expected on the day of the attack the Mimics swarm the advancing soldiers killing every living thing in sight, while the battle raged on a horde of Drones launched an amphibious attack on the now unguarded London. With the Mimics wiping out all of Operation Downfall and destroying London they would rampage across all of the planet killing all of humanity.

They would but, faced a wildcard William Cage who had gained its time warping ability and now knew of its world ending plan. But due to his lack of combat efficiency it believed he was not a threat and preceded on with its plans and continued to win Operation Downfall over and over again but time reset over and over again. Realizing the not only had Cage become more skilled in combat but had aligned himself with Rita Vrataski a solider who had previously possessed its powers but lost them during the battle of Verdun. Realizing he had become a serious threat, the Omega planted false visions of its whereabouts, as it had done to Rita in Verdun, by tricking him into believing it resided in the Bavarian Alps. It then sent a single Alpha and Drone to kill Cage via exsanguination, thus preventing him from halting its progress. Despite the pairs best efforts, Cage was able to kill himself by drowning. Cage then used the Transponder, a device that would reveal its true location, and learned that it was in fact in the Louvre. Before he could escape Whitehall, Cage crashes into an armored solider and treated for his injuries as well as a blood transfusion removing the reset ability leaving him with only one chance to kill the Omega ending the invasion once and for all. Rita frees him and he successfully convinces the J-squad to aid them in reaching and destroying the Omega. Realizing their plan the Omega uses a swarm of Drones which cause them to crash and killing everyone but Rita and Cage who make it to the Louvre. In a last ditch effort it unleashes an Alpha on the pair, Rita sacrifices herself and is killed by the Alpha giving Cage enough time to reach the Omega the Alpha chases after him and stabs him through the back killing him but not before he is able to drop the now primed grenades into the Omegas Brain which explodes killing it and every single Mimic it was connected to.
